How do you install a swing correctly?
Swings for nurseries, schools and public playgrounds must be installed in accordance with DIN EN 1176/77. A detailed installation manual is included with every swing and every swing suspension. Depending on the type of swing, different points must be observed. For example, with a double swing you must maintain a minimum distance between the swing seats and mount the suspension points accordingly. You also need to consider the suspension height: for nursery and preschool children, a height of 220 cm is sufficient. From primary school age upwards, higher swings should be used.Which swing suspension for which swing?
There are various systems for hanging swings: swing suspensions with roller joints, swivels, swing hooks or brackets. But which one suits which swing? Suspensions with nylon plain bearings are ideal for safely attaching standard swing seats. Swivels reliably prevent the swing chains from twisting. For nest swings, on the other hand, suspensions such as the Huck cross joint with safety bearing are ideal. It offers double fixing points and is designed for swinging in both directions. For swing frames made of wood or steel, we recommend cross-joint suspensions. Always pay close attention to the installation instructions when buying a swing. The required foundation plans as well as installation and maintenance manuals are included with each swing. The ideal suspension height depends on the type of swing. In our product descriptions, we always specify the recommended suspension height for each model. It is also essential to determine and secure both the impact area and the free fall height. You will also find this information in the respective product description. Still, it’s useful to know how these values are calculated so you can comply with the DIN standard and ensure professional installation:For the impact area:
Fall height (in m) + 0.75 m to 1.50 m
To calculate the fall height, use the following formula:
Distance from swing seat to pivot point x 0.5 + distance from swing seat to ground
Example:
2.00 m x 0.5 = 1.00 + 40 cm = 1.40 m free fall height
