Nordic Sport Competition Javelin “Viking”: Ideal for Beginners and Training
The Nordic Sport Competition Javelin “Viking” is perfectly designed for both competition training and beginners in javelin sports. Constructed from aluminum, this javelin boasts a relatively flexible shaft, indicated by its two-digit flex number. Advantage: This feature allows the javelin to be more forgiving of errors compared to other Nordic competition models. Furthermore, its steel tip is not specifically engineered for particular wind conditions.

Due to updates from World Athletics effective April 1, 2025, adjustments have been made to the specifications of the 700g javelin. These changes ensure that it is designed to pivot earlier and generally land in a more upright position. The total length of the 2025 model is 2,420 mm (+/- 10 mm).

Since 2012 Nordic Sport has classified its competition javelins with a flex number instead of a throwing distance. This figure provides information about the rigidity of the javelin. An additional overview of possible throwing distances indicates a range of common throwing distances achieved with each javelin. The smaller the flex number, the more rigid the javelin is.
