The step up to the winners’ podium

How is a winners’ podium designed? The podium is usually a 3-step platform for the awards ceremony of the top 3 finishers in sports competitions and tournaments. The winner stands on the highest, central step. The runners-up in second and third place stand to the sides on the lower steps. From the spectators’ point of view, second place is on the left step and third place on the right step. The two lower steps are almost always the same height.
