The story and values behind Kin-Ball
A Canadian PE teacher invented Kin-Ball in 1986. Since then, the sport has grown from a trend into a popular mass sport. Kin-Ball is especially popular in Canada, Japan, France, Belgium and Switzerland. The game has a strong social focus, as every team member is always involved in each play – no one is left out. In addition to coordination, speed, stamina and reaction time, Kin-Ball also playfully promotes cognitive skills such as communication, attention and cooperation. This makes it particularly attractive for sports in clubs, schools and other educational institutions, as well as for inclusive corporate sports or team-building events. The basic rules of Kin-Ball
In Kin-Ball, 3 teams compete against each other. Each team consists of 4–8 players, with 4 always on the court. According to official rules, the playing field measures 20 x 20 m – exactly half a handball court. The team in possession of the ball tries to hit it so that the called team cannot reach it. The defending team must prevent the ball from touching the ground. Once they have the ball under control, they switch to offense. If they fail, the attacking team scores 1 point. The first team to reach 11 points wins the game segment, called a “period”. In tournaments, the match ends when one team has won 2 periods. In general, you can flexibly adapt and adjust the game duration to your needs.
