Aiming high
The Sport-Thieme classic indoor climbing rope is made of tear-resistant hemp. It features a plastic heat-shrink sleeve on one end, preventing the rope from fraying, making it last for longer and increasing safety. The other end features a galvanised steel bracket for hanging. There's a choice of various lengths and on request, the climbing rope can also be supplied in special lengths. Please contact us for a quote (info@sport-thieme.de). Ropes that are longer than 5.5 m feature a red marking every 5 m (red tape).

What length do I need?
As per the DIN 18032-1 and 18032-6 standards, a climbing rope must start 40 cm above the ground. You should therefore order a rope that's 40 cm shorter than the height of your room. Having said that, you must also consider the ceiling mount and attachment accessories (brackets, hooks, etc.). So, to determine the required length, you must subtract the length of the ceiling mount and attachment accessories, as well as the 40 cm from your ceiling height. In other words, your rope should be as long as the distance from the attachment point of the suspension bracket (top) to the bottom of the heat-shrink sleeve. Please note, that we measure our ropes when they’re slightly under tension, so they may initially be a bit shorter. But don't worry, they'll be getting longer with regular use.

Good to know
Climbing ropes must not be knotted, as knots can lead to injuries when sliding down. Our ropes can withstand a load of approx. 200 kg.

Note for structural engineers
Pursuant to DIN 7911-2:1998-12, the load assumptions for the suspension of climbing ropes, rope ladders, swings, etc. are a vertical load of 2,000 N and a horizontal load of 900 N per suspension point (without vibration coefficient).
